About the role
We are seeking a Frame and Lens Specialist to join our Waiuku, Auckland location on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be the trusted advisor for customers seeking the perfect eyewear solution, combining product knowledge with genuine customer service. You will play a vital part in our sales operation, guiding customers through frame selection, lens options, and eyewear technology to ensure they leave with a solution that meets their vision and lifestyle needs. This position is crucial to our business success, as you will be directly responsible for converting customer consultations into satisfied eyewear purchases whilst building lasting relationships that drive repeat business.

Key responsibilities

1. Consult with customers to understand their vision requirements, lifestyle needs and budget considerations

2. Provide expert recommendations on frame styles, materials and lens options tailored to individual customer needs

3. Educate customers on lens technology, coatings, and treatments to help them make informed purchasing decisions

4. Perform accurate frame measurements and fitting to ensure optimal comfort and visual performance

5. Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately, utilising point-of-sale systems

6. Maintain detailed customer records and preferences to support personalised service on future visits

7. Achieve and exceed individual sales targets and key performance indicators

8. Build and maintain a loyal customer base through exceptional service and follow-up communication

9. Keep the retail display area well-organised, clean and visually appealing

10. Stay current with product knowledge, frame trends and new lens technologies through ongoing training

11. Collaborate with optometrists and other team members to ensure seamless customer care.

What we're looking for

1. Proven sales experience in optical retail, eyewear or a related customer-facing sales environment

2. Strong knowledge of frames, lenses, coatings and eyewear technology, or a demonstrated willingness to develop this expertise

3. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex optical concepts in simple, relatable terms

4. Natural ability to build rapport with customers and identify their specific needs

5. Results-driven mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets

6. Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic computer literacy

7. Attention to detail, particularly when taking measurements and processing orders

8. Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also managing responsibilities independently

9. Professional presentation and grooming standards befitting a healthcare retail environment

10. A genuine passion for helping customers find eyewear solutions that enhance their quality of life

11. Preferred: Optical Dispensing Technician qualification or equivalent professional certification

12. Preferred: Experience with lens fitting, frame adjustments or technical optical knowledge.
